I had high hopes for this blend’s strong spices to cover up the scent and taste of the valerian root. I normally like chai profile teas, and need valerian root to get sleepy at night, but can’t stand the smell or taste of that ingredient. Unfortunately, the tea blend d just smelled like very strong spiced dirty socks or feet to me, whether I use milk or not. The ingredients appear to be quality, and the valerian does make me sleepy, but I cannot stand the smell or taste of this blend.

I had high hopes for the strong spice flavors of chai (which I usually like) to cover up the pungent odor and taste of valerian root. This tea smelled strongly like dirty socks with chai spices and didn’t taste much different than the smell, whether I added a splash of milk or not. I will say this tea is effective for making me sleepy, but it’s difficult for me to drink or put up with the smell. I feel like this is a quality set of ingredients, but even with valerian listed last (so it should be a small proportion), the valerian root in this blend is a very strong component of its flavor and scent. If that doesn’t bother you, it will probably help you get sleepy.

I have over 500 teas and this is one I will never be without again. It’s the only tea I’ve tried that includes valerian root and doesn’t taste horrible. It’s strong, spicy, a little sweet, and really helps me sleep. Highly recommend this for sleep-deprived chai lovers.
